About Low Back Pain

Most lower back pain is what clinicians call "non-specific": it comes from the joints, discs, muscles and ligaments of the lower back rather than a serious underlying disease. It can be very painful even when nothing is damaged.

Common triggers include lifting, bending and twisting, long periods of sitting, a sudden increase in activity, and poor sleep or stress, which can all make pain feel worse.

Common signs

  • Pain or stiffness across the lower back
  • Pain getting out of a chair or bed
  • Pain with bending, lifting or sitting
  • Pain that spreads into the buttock

How We Can Help

Chiropractic adjustments to the lower back and pelvis are at the centre of our care, used to improve movement in stiff joints and ease pain.

We combine adjustments with specific exercises and practical advice about work, sleep, lifting and sport, and show you what you can do yourself to keep it settled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I rest or keep moving?

For most back pain, gentle movement helps more than bed rest. We will help you work out what is safe to keep doing.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on how long you have had the pain and how you respond. We will give you an estimate after your assessment and review your progress regularly.
